History[]

Early History[]

The region now call Zarinthia was once inhabited by nomadic tribes, and ethnic Persians were a minority, concentrated in the coastal cities. This all changed when an ambitious caliph named Al-Sayyid Nizaam Mushtaaq bin Nawaz al- Aziz seized the opportunity and initiated an invasion of the region, easily subduing the weak nomadic tribes. They remained under the cailphate's occupation until his death in 421 AF.

Age of Imams[]

Following the death of al-Aziz, a massive struggle unravels among rival noble familes. The Bayyanids have gained control of the area now known as the Bayyanid Caliphate, and a rival court was established by Al- Sayyid Faraj al-Waddaah Kabir in the Zarinthia region, which remained until his death in 620. It was during this time the population of ethnic Persians ballooned.

The Imamate, later Kingdom[]

Following Kabir's death, the caliphate begins to fragment as powerful nomadic tribes begin to contest for control of the area. In 721 an influential religious leader named Abu al- Ibrahim Ganbi al- bin Abdul Quddoos Abdallah al- Zharin rises to power; it was from his name the word "Zarinthia" came from. He was able to subdue the infighting tribes and install himself as the Grand Imam, making him the supreme ruler of the region. In 765, his son, Abdullah Yassin al- Mazdak Kajanwala al- Zharin later transforms the imamate to the Kingdom of Zarinthia, crowning himself as king. He was a good ruler, but after his death in 775, the social condition turned for the worse. His successors were usually living a lavish lifestyle, depleting the country's resources. There was widespread poverty. A revolt broke out in 783, but was brutally crushed.

Revolution and the founding of the Socialist Republic []

A young writer named Hassan Edibam Javedani, who was educated in Neubayern, was forced to open his eyes to the miserable reality of his country. Influenced by the writings of Colnian socialist philosopher Jan Pieter van Thorsen, he founded the Social Democratic League, the predescessor of the Communist Party of Zarinthia. Constitutional government was introduced in 786 AF, thus enabling Javedani to work on plans to overthrowing the corrupt monarchy. The execution of his comrade Partash Delwadewala became the spark to the February Revolution that dethroned King Abdul Jaleel Hamidi bin Ibrahim al- Zharin in 790 AF, and laid the road to founding the Democratic People's Republic of Zarinthia, with Javedani as the president.
